Will Anything Joshua V Tyson Fury Ever Happen?
Tyson Fury fought Deontay Wilder twice resulting in a controversial draw in December 2019, and a KO win against Wilder early in 2020. That put Wilder out of the equation for the time being, and propelled Tyson, in the eyes of many, to the number-1 spot in heavyweight boxing. However, he cannot claim to be the best of this generation without beating Joshua. It’s that simple. In boxing, the best need to fight each other to prove supremacy. Big mouths and claims without the requisite victories do not count.
Anthony Joshua went through his ordeal when losing to challenger, Andy Ruiz in mid-2019 at Madison Square Gardens, New York. It was a shock defeat for Joshua and his first as a pro. He regrouped, changed his style, and outpointed Ruiz in the rematch to reclaim his three belts to set up the undisputed fight against Fury.
Making Fight Plans For 2021
At the weekend, Anthony Joshua dispatched his dangerous mandatory challenger, Kurab Pulev, which was live on DAZN across many parts of the world. And not the path seems clear for the big fight. Or perhaps not.
Tyson Fury will not have fought for one year. And Anthony Joshua still has his WBO mandatory challenger, Oleksandr Usyk, who will be a difficult fight. So will the Anthony Joshua V Tyson Fury fight take place in 2021? We hope so, but your guess is as good as ours.
