One of the biggest Phuket sports events in 2017 is undoubtedly the Phuket international Rugby 10s tournament, hosted and held at the Thanyapura Sports & Leisure Club, currently in its 19^th year and is one of the largest and longest-running annual sporting events in Asia. This 3-day tournament is perfect for Rugby fans and Phuket sports fans in general.

There will be a main tournament and a veteran’s tournament both taking place over the 3-days, with the main tourney having 24 teams and 16 in the veteran’s competition. There will be teams taking part from across the world such as New Zealand, South Africa and Australia, alongside local teams from Thailand and SE-Asia. 24^th Laguna Phuket Triathlon Sports Event

Some think that boxers and martial artists are the toughest and most durable sports persons in the world, but not many can hold a candle to a triathlete. One of the most brutal Phuket sports events of the year, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, is always one of the most eagerly-awaited sporting events in the Phuket calendar. Taking place at the prestigious Laguna Phuket Resort, this is the 24^th year of the event, which is pretty much astounding.

Some of the biggest names in the triathlon world will be visiting Phuket for the event, which not only includes the race itself, but also an award party and pasta party. The triathlon is Asia’s premier destination triathlon, combining a unique 1.8km swim, a grueling 50km bike ride and a brutal 12km run to finish the event.

12^th Laguna Phuket Marathon Sports Event

3^rd to 4^th June 2017

Marathons are not only one of the most grueling sporting spectacles in the world, but are also great events to raise money for charity. One of the biggest Phuket sports events on the Phuket events calendar is always the Laguna Phuket Marathon, attracting massive numbers, both in terms of spectators and competitors. Anyone can join in on the marathon, which makes this a real special event.

This is the 12^th year of the event, organized by Go Adventure Asia, held over a 2-day period starting at the Laguna Phuket Resort. There are a few different runs taking place over the 2-days, with a 2km run, a 5km run and a 10.5km run held on the Saturday. The main full marathon and half-marathon will take place on the Sunday morning.

There will be 6,000 participants taking part in the event from across 60 different nationalities, with the course taking in beautiful countryside views and vistas, meandering through rubber and pineapple plantations. This Phuket sports event also does a lot for charity, with the Laguna Phuket Foundation that helps to support local communities and environmental conservation.
