Thailand’s COVID-19 unity was one of the main reasons why the Kingdom curbed the bug so quickly. This is the thought process of the World Health Organization (WHO) who have come out to praise Thailand’s successes in steadying the spread of the virus.
COVID-19 has indeed been a relative non-starter in Thailand. But in honesty, the reason we have so few reported cases is that there is no testing system in place that you might find in countries with a national health system. And if you have to test just to find out you have something that you didn’t even realize that you had, how bad is the virus in the first place? Sketchy to say the least.
Thailand’s COVID-19 Strategy has been Praised by WHO
WHO Gives Kudos to Thailand’s COVID-19 Strategy
The Bangkok Post is the outlet to report that WHO praised Thailand on Thursday for their efforts at a national health assembly meeting held by the National Health Commission Office (NHCO). They were impressed with Thailand’s COVID-19 reaction.
The WHO director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said at the meeting that the unity and solidarity shown by the social and public sectors in Thailand enabled the Kingdom to curb the spread of COVID-19 from the get-go. And on the back of the praise, Thailand Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, said the war on COVID is not over yet and Thailand needs to remain vigilant.
Thailand’s COVID-19 policy has been one of the most successful
Thailand’s COVID-19 Lockdowns 2020
Thailand did indeed do a good job closing down for a couple of months’ worth of lockdown. Thailand’s COVID-19 reaction was swift. They adapted the strategy much quicker than most nations. Which is to be commended. Even with a mad dash of workers back to their provinces from the major tourism and work epicenters such as Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya, the numbers were relatively low.
Even though there has been an alleged 4 million people who contracted COVID this year, only 4,000 or so of those cases were in Thailand. But as mentioned above, there was no real testing. I do not know one person who was tested in Thailand. We are sure there were, but not that many. And that begs the question, did we really need testing? The answer is NO! It makes you wonder what’s going on in some of the Western nations.
Future of COVID-19
As we speak, the fear of COVID and the almost Orwellian-style ‘non-travel’ restrictions, and the Orwellian-style newspeak language currently being used in media outlets across the West is more concerning than the virus. If people lose their jobs and livelihoods, there will be a lot more deaths and problems than from the virus, that’s for sure!
So, WHO has praised Thailand’s COVID-19 efforts. There you have it, folks!
