The Many Saints of Newark movie was originally penned in for release on 12 March 2021 but is now delayed until 24 September 2021. The decision was made by Warner Bros in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The Variety website has reported the news that the release date of the Soprano prequel movie will once again be moved. However, this is a trend we are seeing across the entire movie industry. Son Becomes the Father in The Sopranos

Let’s be honest, Tony Soprano is easily one of the most captivating television characters of all-time. The way that actor James Gandolfini played the trouble New Jersey mafia boss was truly epic. His character was so polarizing. Similar to Walter from Breaking Bad in many ways.

The Sopranos was the first time we ever saw an anti-hero as the leading role in a TV drama series. Experts say you wouldn’t have had a Walter White if it wasn’t for the Tony Soprano character. The show spawned the idea of an anti-hero. The irony is that the Sopranos prequel movie follows the early years of Tony Soprano, and will be played by Gandolfini’s son, Michael Gandolfini. Which will be interesting to see in itself. However, you will now have to wait until September, but it could be worse!

The Sopranos Prequel Movie Cast

The one thing we can comfort ourselves with is that the show’s original director and creator, David Chase, wrote the script for the prequel. This will ensure continuity and quality. Chase will not let the Sopranos good name be dragged through the dirt by an inferior product. That’s for sure!

Some of the other cast members starring in The Many Saints of Newark include Alessandro Nivola as Dickie Moltisanti, Billy Magnussen in the role of Paulie Walnuts, Corey Stoll as Junior Soprano, and John Magaro starring as Silvio Dante.

If you have been eagerly awaiting the Sopranos prequel movie, don’t fret. It might have been delayed, but we will still get to see the exploits of Tony Soprano in his early years. You’ll just have to wait until September.
