Social Events in Thailand
Thailand is well suited to accommodate a whole range of social events, whether they are corporate, public or private functions. As a dream destination for weddings, anniversaries, office outings and teambuilding excursions, this page contains all the information you need to know about social events in places like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Hua Hin and the southern islands.
Weddings in Thailand
The wedding industry is huge in Thailand – you only have to walk down a street in an upscale area of Bangkok or other tourist resorts to see the rows of wedding organizers, dress shops and agencies. While most locals stay loyal to their home city when getting married, foreign couples looking to get married in Thailand often choose one of the southern islands as the place to tie the knot… often on the beach!
The islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Chang prove the most popular with their white-sanded beaches, beach bars and fun activities. Luckily, plenty of five-star hotels on the islands cater specifically for wedding events (as well as other social events). The tropical setting of Phuket also welcomes wedding guests with open arms, but the beaches here tend to be a little busier. For larger wedding ceremonies and other social gatherings, choosing a hotel in Bangkok might be a better idea. Lots of city center hotels have their own private ballrooms and function rooms able to accommodate hundreds or even thousands of guests at a time.
Teambuilding events in Thailand
Another type of social event in Thailand that is growing in popularity if teambuilding. The clientele is mostly made up of colleagues from local offices, although if your boss is really generous, companies in neighbouring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia might also choose to do their teambuilding or annual corporate trip to Thailand.
Teambuilding events in Thailand can be as simple as booking a hotel on the beach and relaxing in each others’ company for a day or two – or you can choose to book a package teambuilding trip/program. Some fun activities available here include rock climbing, dinner cruises, quad bike trips, Muay Thai, trekking and sightseeing. For those based in Bangkok and looking for a quick escape, places like Hua Hin, Pattaya, Koh Chang and Koh Samed are all quick and easy to reach. If your boss has a bigger budget, consider a longer journey to places such as Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai.
Networking social events in Thailand
Workers looking to meet other industry experts, make useful connections and of course do a bit of socializing in Thailand have plenty of choices. Some of Bangkok’s big event arenas hold specific events for different industries, while for small gatherings hotels are used (these often are invite only). These include events such as coding (or hackathons), hospitality conferences, university meetups, expat meetups and more.
