The Pattaya gay scene is a real paradise for foreign gay tourists. Jomtien Beach, Pattaya Gay Scene

The Pattaya gay scene is still mostly commercial. There are also relaxed LGBTQ businesses. Excellent places where you can find friends who head to Jomtien Beach in the afternoon to lie under umbrellas and do some people-watch. Other venues in Jomtien are just a block from the beach in a shophouse complex similar to Phuket’s Paradise Complex.

Walk down to Jomtien Beach near to the Dontan section of the beach to find a dozen gay-patronized beach umbrellas. Walk from the Police box and the point where the main road from Pattaya town hits the beach, make a right and follow the brick bike path or walkway about 200 meters in — especially the area in front of Tui’s Place. Here you will find lots of tourists and Thai LGBTQ people. The section farther down in front of Rabbit Resort is more spread out and attracts local ex-pats and couples. Strolling vendors sell everything and anything under the sun. If you’re lucky, you might meet the artist, Tiwa, who sells cards of his erotic watercolours.

When it comes to gay and LBFM tourism, Thailand is one of the most open and forward-thinking nations in the world. What is unacceptable as a gay man or woman in the West is entirely different here in Pattaya. As the Thais are such a tolerant bunch and Thailand is home to the most transgender people in the world, this is a place where gay men and women can come, relax and be with like-minded souls.
