People celebrate for thousands of years the symbol of the Japanese Imperial House and an indicator that autumn has arrived, the chrysanthemum flower, or ‘Kiku’, at festivals during the autumn and features lavish floral displays with chrysanthemum blossoms specially cultivated for the occasion.
Chrysanthemum Flower Festival at Yamazato Restaurant
The flower petals include in traditional dishes. Master Chef Shigeru Hagiwara at award-winning Yamazato restaurant has created a chrysanthemum Gozen lunch platter and an 8-course Kaiseki dinner. Highlight ingredients include Momiji sea bream, goby, chestnuts, gingko nuts, saury fish, and modori bonito.

Stars of the Gozen platter comprise tempura, soup, sashimi, and a simmered dish of sweet fish with roe, taro, pumpkin, and carrot. The Kaiseki menu includes showcase dishes such as a starter of torched marinated mackerel, shrimp, mountain potato, maitake mushroom, tomato, and caviar with Yoshino flower vinegar, a sashimi presentation encompassing tuna, yellowtail, seasonal saury fish, and sweet shrimp, and a particular dish of foie gras with mushroom and leek sauce.
The promotion at Yamazato restaurant runs from 3 – 23 September 2018, lunch 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., dinner: 6 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Priced at Baht 1,300++ for Gozen lunch and Baht 4,500++ for Kaiseki dinner.
