New Album Releases for Year 2021

Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift (with even two records) already proved last year that artists can produce a new album during a lockdown. We dig a bit deeper in the artists from whom we can expect a new album this year. Will 2021 be the year for Adele and Rihanna to make their long-awaited comebacks?

New Album Lana Del Rey – Chemtrails over the Country Club (expected in March)

Lana Del Rey was supposed to release her new album Chemtrails over the Country Club in September last year but decided to postpone it. Due to measures surrounding the coronavirus.

The successor to Norman Fucking Rockwell’s release in 2019 is unanimously praised by critics. March is hopefully the new album’s release date. Del Rey, known for hits like Video Games and Young & Beautiful, recently announced that she plans to release the music video and single Chemtrails about the Country Club, tomorrow (January 11).

Drake – Certified Lover Boy (expected January)

Good old Rapper boy Drake never takes long to release new music. Every year a new record or mixtape is released by the Canadian rapper, who has long been one of the most listened to artists worldwide on Spotify.

Drake announced last year that Certified Lover Boy will be the title for the next album. At the time, he planned to share the record with the world in January, but there is no official date yet. He did, however, release the first single Laugh Now Cry Later last summer, which made it to number one in Canada and second in the charts in the United States.

Adele works on new music in the studio with songwriter and producer Rick Nowels. Expect her release this year.

Some hope arrived for the fans of Adele in October that the waiting for their idol was near. Adele announced on Instagram that she would return to her life as a ‘cat lady’, but drummer Matt Chamberlain said in December that she worked on new music in the studio with songwriter and producer Rick Nowels and Adele. Expect her release this year. In November it was already five years ago that the singer, known for hits like Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You and Hello, released her third album 25.

Lorde

Lorde Expect her Music Album 2021

New Zealand pop star Lorde: Expect the album 2021 after her second album Melodrama in 2017.

New Zealand pop star Lorde largely disappeared from the picture after her second album Melodrama in 2017. Remember the hits Royals and Green Light? Making of her new record was delayed according to Lorde’s statement last year. The reason was the death of her dog. How sad.

In 2020, however, she promised her countrymen that in 2021 she would have a surprise for them if they voted in the New Zealand elections. This surprise was seen as a hint for new music.

The singer is working with producer and songwriter Jack Antonoff again on her new material. Lorde coined the title of the record while travelling to Antarctica. Still unknown are the record title and release date.

Rihanna

It will be five years since Rihanna released her eighth album Anti later this month. After the record became a worldwide success, Rihanna still appeared on collaborations with DJ Khaled and Kendrick. The artist then turned to other activities, including her clothing brand Fenty.

Fans continuously ask her about R9 on social media (referring to the singer’s ninth album). A few days ago she answered such a question with “2021 energy”.

Other artists whose albums will probably see the light in 2021 despite COVID-19 are:

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Billie Eilish
  • FKA twigs
  • Travis Scott
  • The Cure
  • Rosalía
  • Arcade Fire
  • Kendrick Lamar
  • OneRepublic
