Jim Thompson is a legendary name in Thailand and is widely known for reviving the Thai silk industry. Jim’s disappearance in the late-1960s is still much a mystery today. His name and legacy have lived on. Jim Thompson’s old house is now a shrine to what he believed in and has been turned into a stunning museum that should be a must-see place when visiting Bangkok.

This must-visit Bangkok attraction is six teak wooden buildings surrounded by beautiful gardens and adhered to age-old Thai building practices. The house is home to Jim’s vast collection of artworks, most of which is from SE-Asia.

Alongside the museum, there are quite obviously lots of silk-influenced items and processes from silk worm production to harvesting, weaving and silk spinning. The Jim Thompson House is a very important place for the Bangkok art scene and hosts independent art exhibitions.
