Talad Rod Fai Is A Great Mix With The Local Thais

The Talad Rod Fai market opens from Tuesday to Sunday evenings 6 pm – Midnight and is a great place to mix with the locals, eat a huge variety of food, drink beers and shop at the many stalls. Talad Rot Fai Ratchada is situated just behind Esplanade shopping mall and a 5 min walk from MRT station Thailand Cultural Center.

Talad Rot Fai is split into sections, with a big food area selling many delicious snacks and meals. Next to that is a shopping area with hundreds of small stalls from local vendors selling everything from clothes to gadgets, fashion accessories and gifts. On the outside of the food and shopping areas are many bars, some built inside buildings with vintage décor and artifacts and some housed in shipping containers providing a cool and funky place to drink and socialize with friends. There are also pop up bars in VW camper vans and an assortment of different bars to choose from. The music is loud at many venues, and popular with hipster local Thais, bikers and tourists that are in the know. A great place to visit if you are looking for an authentic Thai experience mixing with local people who enjoy hanging out in the evenings.

Since the closure due to development a couple of years ago the market has moved to two new spaces, one being Srinakarin in the suburbs of Bangkok and now the much easier to reach the area of Ratchada just on the outskirts of the center of the city.

Esplanade Shopping Center is located right in front of the market. Esplanade is easy to access from the Talad Rot Fai Train market. Esplanade is a popular hangout spot for students and starters. It is also a popular shopping destination for tourists. Small unknown shop names, as well as recognizable chains, such as Starbucks and McDonalds, can be found. One of the upper floors hosts a bowling and Esplanade cinema, showing the latest movies, reasonably priced.
