HBO Game of Thrones Prequel News

The news in regards to the HBO Game of Throne prequel is coming from an article on the Deadline entertainment news website. Deadline reported that the news of filming starting in April came directly from an HBO/HBO Max Q&A session that took place earlier this week.

The HBO Max Chief Content Officer, Casey Bloys, had some interesting news regarding the House of Dragon. And that GOT creator George R.R. Martin will be involved, along with former GOT directors Ryan Condal and Michael Sapochnik. It really is great news for Game of Thrones fans, almost two years after the much-maligned final season of the show was aired.

Filming for HBO Game of Thrones Prequel Starting Soon

While talking at the Q&A session earlier this week, the HBO Game of Thrones prequel was one of the main talking points. Which will spark lots of interest from fans of the franchise and the Game of Thrones universe.

Here is what Casey Bloys had to say about the prequel:

“We’re thrilled with Miguel and Ryan, their collaboration and their collaboration with us, and excited to get going. We’ve been talking about areas to develop, which is where this prequel came from. We are talking about other areas that make sense as well. George R.R. Martin’s world is so big and what’s interesting about it, not only is it big but he’s got a lot of road maps in terms of history. So one of the great things about House of the Dragon is that’s an established history that leads you to Game of Thrones the show, and there is a lot of little branches. There is a lot of opportunities and stories to tell.”

Telling the Story of House Targaryen

The story of the HBO Game of Thrones prequel, House of Dragon, will be set 300 years before the timeline of the original GOT series. The show will follow the story of the Targaryen dynasty and a civil war that shape the future of George R.R. Martin’s universe. The series will have ten episodes and will likely be released in 2022.

We recently talked about another Game of Thrones prequel, Dunc & Egg, which is also in the pipeline. And even though fans were not happy with the final season of the GOT series, it’s time for a bit of redemption with House of Dragon.
