The Second Annual Samui Festival Celebrates All Things Samui
This Samui Festival weekend, businesses, residents, and visitors alike will join in activities all over Samui to appreciate and enjoy the beauties and attractions of this famously popular tourist destination. Whether it is sports, food, art, music, or more, you will find an event that will excite and entertain you. Most of the events are free, so there’s no excuse not to join in the fun! You Can Enter or Cheer on Sporting Events at the Samui Festival
Runners can vie for a trophy from the Prime Minister of Thailand on Sunday, September 30. Starting at 4 am, there will be a 5-km fun run, a 10.5-km mini marathon, and a 42-km full marathon starting at Na Thon Pier. The first 100 finishers of the marathon will receive a free travel package to Ang Thong Island.
Cyclists can compete in road and mountain biking races all over the island on Saturday, September 29. Starting from 6 am, there will be 25 and 50 km races of varying classes. Contact the links to find out more about the races, registrations, and prizes.
On every night at the Samui Festival, you can cheer on Muay Thai boxers in bouts taking place in Bo Phut. Come to witness the national sport as professional men and women Muay Thai experts fight it out in the ring!
There Will Be Parades of Flowers and Food at the Samui Festival
Sponsors from across Samui have commissioned or built floral floats to parade all over Samui. Government offices, hotels, schools and more joined in the fun to design and decorate these works of moving art. Along with these wonderful floats, traditional Thai artists will perform down the parade route. This parade will occur at various locations gathering at Na Thon Pier.
Take part in a world record while feasting on delicious food featuring local island ingredients. Hotels and restaurants from all over the island have donated food for the world’s longest buffet on Chaweng Beach.
Local Arts, Handicrafts, and Food Feature Large at the Samui Festival
Local artists from the island as well as from across Thailand will converge at the Samui Festival. Watch as works of art come to be at workshops and fairs. Or appreciate the art lane and displays in various exhibitions, perhaps adding to your own collection. Food will always play a major role at any festival. Samui Festival is no exception. From the freshest seafood to succulent coconuts, and all the treats that can be made from them, you will have your pick at the Samui Festival!
Local artisans will also be on hand, hawking their wares. Pick up some handmade ceramics or intricately painted beachwear, the Samui Festival will satisfy the shopper in everyone!
Celebrities and Musicians from All Over Thailand Will Entertain at Samui Festival
Every night of the Samui Festival, a line-up of actors and musical acts will entertain you on-stage. From 5 pm every night until midnight, musicians with emceeing help from actors will bring the beaches alive at Na Thon Market and Chaweng Beach.
