We Love to Stay in Touch.
Bangkok Design Week is a showcase of the inner-city designers and innovators who are the new leaders in working towards Bangkok being the new creative capital of SE Asia.
Bangkok Design Week is the Platform for Creative Artists
Bangkok is quickly becoming a hotspot for contemporary arts and creative collectives, and BKKDW2019 is a celebration of the incredible potential Bangkok holds as a dynamic creative hub.
Bangkok Design Week 2019 (BKKDW 2019) will take place from January 26th– 3rd February 2019 with the running theme of “Fusing Forward”. It is hoped this will reflect Bangkok’s potential for being at the center of a new generation creative hub and a successful gathering of artistic producers who collectively work to combine knowledge from various creative disciplines, locally and internationally. The first event that took place in 2018 attracted more than 500 partners from multiple sectors, academic institutions and cultural organizations and welcomed over 400,000 visitors over the week period. The 5 critical activities on the events schedule are ‘Showcase & Exhibition’, ‘Talk & Workshops’, ‘Creative District Project’, ‘Events Program’ and ‘Creative Market’. The week will present an ongoing itinerary and schedule of events, exhibitions and talks with tons of opportunities for creatives and anybody interested in getting involved and enjoying the creative boom that Bangkok is currently growing.
Bangkok Design Week across Multiple Venues
The Bangkok Design Week festival takes place across various venues in Bangkok where visitors can explore the festival as a whole, integrated events and immersion into the dynamic and creative potential of the great Bangkok City. One area, in particular, will be a hotpot for BKKDW2019 and is currently enjoying the affectionate name of ‘Creative District’.
With Bangkok known for defining districts by their legacies and offerings, the riverside areas of Bangrak and Klongsan have recently demonstrated renaissance and revival and evolved from areas known for little more than quiet river life to a famous tale of sheer neighborhood reinvention. The two riverside districts have paired and observed a blow up of creative energy and artistic residence with tons of innovative groups and artistic collectives moving in, together forming ‘The Creative District’. East-side Charoenkrung and west-side Charoennakhon are filled with art galleries, pop-ups, trendy street vendors and boutique hotels and looks set to be the critical area at the heart of BKKDW2019.
Bangkok Design Week is the Beginning of an Exciting Week
All venues involved have shown commitment to the Bangkok art scene and in keeping with the ‘Fusing Forward’ theme; pledge to support local creativity and assist in providing platforms that demonstrate talent in various formats such as film screenings, abstract performances and live music. BKKDW2019 is set to be an exciting week at the beginning of a new artistic movement, keep your eye on Facebook for a full schedule of events.
