The Toronto Indie band, Alvvays, will be joined by incredible support acts for a headlining Bangkok show this July.
Be Hear Now promotions present ‘Alvvays‘ live in Bangkok this July, adding to a superb line up of international musical goodness heading to Thailand for 2019 tour dates. The band will play their Bangkok debut at indie-favoured venue ‘Moonstar Studio‘ alongside Gym and Swim and Safeplanet.
Alvvays Canadian Indie Pop at its Finest!
Toronto born Alvvays (pronounced Always) masterfully combine their lo-fi jangly indie pop with catchy hooks and melodies, recapturing the likes of Teenage Fanclub and post-punk greats’ Dolly Mixture’. The band’s lead vocalist, Molly Rankin is the daughter of John Morris Rankin, a member of the famous Canadian folk band ‘The Rankin Family’. Born with music in her genes, Molly enlisted her neighbour Kerri MacLellan to take on keyboards, childhood friend Alec O’Hanley on guitar, Sheridan Riley on drums and Brian Murphy on bass. They released their first self-titled album back in 2014, instantly topping the US charts and rightfully earning a loyal and committed international fanbase.
International Music Festival Favourite Alvvays
Following the sudden success of their first release, booking agents added the band to incredible international festival line ups such as Glastonbury in the UK and Coachella in the United States. In the process, new songs were crafted and added to their sets and the band would take day trips to islands in Toronto to record their second offering in an abandoned school classroom. The group split the recording locations, making an exciting mix of both studio and DIY approaches for their tracks. The band also added exciting collaborations to the album such as an appearance from Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake. The band released the second album in 2017 under the title ‘Antisocialites’. Again, the album received great critical acclaim and proved to be another hit for both international charts and streaming platforms.
