Playing Championship Golf in Pattaya

Do you want to play championship golf in Pattaya? There are many top-notch courses in Pattaya that have high standards. But there are a couple of courses that are on another level.

All us golfers like to believe that we are better than we actually are. Just because we can drive a car doesn’t mean we can affectively blast an F1 vehicle around Silverstone and have any chance of surviving, let alone winning. But this is where golf is different. Just because we play to a handicap higher than Cheech and Chong, doesn’t mean that we can’t play the best courses in the world. Championship golf is on another level to standard courses in terms of difficulty, but in Pattaya, you can easily get a round of golf at the region’s best Championship courses.

Pattaya Golf Courses

Championship Golf in Pattaya Options

To the majority of golfers, Championship courses represent the holy grail of our sport. Some people go through their entire lives and never get the chance to play one. This is largely due to the sky-rocketed prices, limitations for tee-off times, and that most Championship courses are privately run, so you might have to sit on the waiting list for years just to get a round, and if you are not available on that date for whatever reason, you will have to wait even longer.

Pattaya is a place where you can not only play the championship courses but also easily get a tee-off time and pay excellent value-for-money green fees that every golfer can afford. All without sacrificing quality. There are two main Championship courses to play golf in Pattaya: Siam Country Club and Laem Chabang International Country Club. So let us take you on a guide to both clubs.

Siam Country Club- Championship Golf in Pattaya

When playing golf in Pattaya, Siam Country Club is a godlike name that conjures up images of meticulously maintained carpeted fairways. Here you will find 5-star clubhouse facilities and playing conditions that suit the Tiger Woods’ of this world. With two main 18-hole courses – The Plantation and The Old Course, you will be in golfing heaven. The club has also recently launched its ‘Waterside’ course, but we’ll have to wait to see how that one goes.

The Old Course has been around since 1971. And was firstly created by I. Izumi and then renovated in recent times by Lee Schmidt. The course is known for its tree-lined layout and fast greens and is famous for hosting lots of events on the LPGA Tour such as the Honda Classic.

The courses utilize Seashore Paspalum grass for the fairways. And Novotek for the greens. No expense has been spared in creating this legendary course. There are a total of 101 bunkers on the course. So you need to be hitting the ball straight every time, or you better get out the bucket and spade. Completely tree-lined, every hole feels independent and personal, just how all good golf courses should.

Laem Chabang International Country Club

Laem Chabang Golf in Pattaya

Laem Chabang International Country Club is one of the best championship golf clubs in Pattaya

Located just a 20-minute drive outside of Pattaya, Laem Chabang International Country Club is arguably the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing course in the region. Known for its beautiful flowers, immaculate playing conditions, and holes that are named, as opposed to a number, the course really is spectacular and quaint, all in the same breath.

The course was created by golf legend, Jack Nicklaus. This 27-hole championship course is set over 700 acres. And is the ultimate experience for playing championship golf in Pattaya. From the perfectly maintained conditions on-course to the stylish and impressive clubhouse, everything about this club is 5-star.

The thing that makes Laem Chabang stand alone at the top of the food chain is how the holes seamlessly blend in with its exotic and jungle laden surroundings. Each hole seems to have a unique personality of its own with colorful flower beds at every turn, almost reminiscent of the Augusta National course where the Masters is hosted.

With the combination of flowers, exotic plant life, and palm trees lining the fairways, playing Laem Chabang is more of a total experience than a round of golf. From tee to green, you feel like you are playing on someone’s immaculately pruned back garden; that’s how personal this course really is. When you want to play championship level golf in Pattaya, these two courses are the prime choices.
