One of the most prestigious Thailand events taking place in 2020 will be the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 2020. The 33rd edition of this annual event will be taking place in Phuket for one week from 28 November to 5 December and once again promises to be a spectacular event. The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta is one of the largest regattas in Asia. It has a reputation for prestige within the yachting and sailing community on the continent. The event expects to attract competitors and fans from across the world to Phuket as always.
Prestigious Thailand Events 2020
There will be five days of competition and sailing races during the regatta. The event is also one of the most important social occasions on the island in 2020. There are ten different classes in the competition. For example, IRC Zero IRC 2, Premier, Bareboat Charter A, Bareboat Charter B, Multihull Racing, Firefly 850, Multihull Cruising and Cruising Class. As the event won’t take place until the back-end of 2020, the main details about the race days and the social gatherings have yet to be released but will be in the coming months.
Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 2020 History
The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta was first established way back in 1987. It has gone on to become one of the most eagerly anticipated Phuket events, and one of the most popular regattas in the sub-continent. The date of the event was first created to coincide with the 60th birthday of His Majesty King Rama 9. Even though the late great king has now sadly passed away, the event still takes place in the first week of December every year.

The event will once again be based at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club Phuket. The committee is organizing Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 2020 at Royal Varuna Yacht Club, the Royal Thai Navy, the Yacht Association of Thailand the Province of Phuket.
