Aretha Franklin Seriously Ill

Aretha Franklin is in hospice care. The Lady of Soul who made name and fame with great songs, such as “I Say a Little Prayer” and “Respect” is surrounded by family and dear friends, according to media sources. The 79-years old African-American singer has moved many hearts and is one of America’s best artists of all time.

 

 

A selected group of dear friends have visited her home, including Stevie Wonder, who genuinely cares about her. Later on the same day, Jesse Jackson, a minister and civil rights activist, and her ex-husband Glynn Turman visited Aretha Franklin at home.

 

Aretha Franklin: From Gospel Singer to Lady of Soul

 

The 76th-year-old Aretha Franklin fights against cancer. During the last years, she repeatedly had to cancel concerts due to health problems. She announced, in February of this year that she retires and that she will not record any more music.

 

 

Aretha Franklin went by her official name Aretha Louise Franklin and was born on 25 March 1942. She began her career as a gospel singer. Her career spans six decades of soul music. From her rise of being a gospel singer, her first label signing in 1960 and she ultimately received the respect of her fans as Lady of Soul.

 

Franklin performed at Dr Martin Luther King ‘s Memorial Service where she heartfeltly staged the song “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”. She became the first women, recognised at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She has earned forty-four Grammy nomination and eighteen wins.

Aretha Franklin: Brand New Me

 

Her classic soulful voice perfectly mixed in with newly recorded arrangements on her latest album “Brand New Me”. Her final performance in public was at Elton John Aids Foundation.

 

Beyonce, Jay Z and DJ Khaled Thank Aretha Franklin

 

Beyonce and Jay Z made an extra stop and dedicated their concert in Detroit in honour of the great Aretha Franklin. ‘We love you’, said Beyonce during a last Monday night concert, according to the Detroit Free Press. She thanked Aretha for her music.

 

DJ Khaled, who performed in the support program of the Carters, breathed Aretha Franklin’s song “Respect” to new heights when he included this beautiful song into his set.  

 

Mariah Carey, who recently cancelled her tour to Australia and New Zealand also sends her prayers to Aretha Franklin.
